St. James Healthcare received notification from the Montana Nursing Association that it has been named an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the Montana Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
With this designation, St. James will have the authority to plan, implement, and evaluate its continuing education programs for its nursing staff. “We were very pleased to receive this designation,” said Shannon Holland, MSN RN, and St. James Healthcare Vice President of Patient Care. “At St. James, we are focused on excellent delivery of patient care, and continuing education for our nursing staff plays a big part in ensuring excellence in the care we provide.”
According to Holland, St. James Healthcare’s priorities for patient care include delivering evidence-based, innovative care; providing the highest degree of safety possible for patients, their families, and caregivers; and providing patient-centered and compassionate care. Having the ability to direct continuing education activities ensures the St. James nursing staff enhances its knowledge and skills to meet and exceed these priorities.
In addition, providing accredited courses in-house will give more staff the opportunity to obtain special certifications. Currently, St. James’ clinical staff holds more than 300 certifications, 52 of which are national certifications.
